Chapter # 31 – The Sun Shines Its Brightest : Senshi To The Test  –

Note: Finally I got ride of my writers block! I am sorry for the length! But it is a good read I hope! Please enjoy it!

“The weather for today is hot really hot.  So be ready to get those shorts back out!” The weather announcers voice blared from the radio, which Jessica was listening to. “We are getting a heat wave which should last for at least the next week, maybe even longer if the wind stays away. So make sure you get some sun block because that sun will be beating down on you hard because there are now clouds in the forecast for sometime either.”

Jessica walked over to closet and hung the clothes on the hangers. “Alright Eclipse this doesn’t make sense!” A heat wave in the beginning of November! It is fall for crying out loud! Look outside the leaves are changing color are will be falling from their branches soon! Does this have anything to do with me?” She questioned as she shut the closet door and turned towards Eclipse.

“I really couldn’t tell you Jessica, I am not sure why the weather is changing so much, maybe it is something about the Global warming? Don’t worry about it, if the weather has anything to do with you we will find out soon enough.” Eclipse reassured Jessica.

“You had better be right! Or no treats for you!” Jessica taunted with a shake of her finger.

From the foot of the stairs Jessica’s mother called. “Jess dear! Your friends are here, are you going out?” She questioned.

Running to the top of the stairs Jessica waved to Alissa, Jennifer, Brooke and Madison. “Mom is it alright if we go out back? That way Jennifer’s dog Nova can stay?” She questioned.

“Sure, just make sure you clean up an mess which you make.” Jessica gave the girls a thumb up and ran back into her room to slip her transformation medallion into her pocket.

Dashing down the stairs two at a time the red head was soon at the bottom. “Girls come quickly we don’t have much time, Jessica has to go to fencing lesson in a little while.” Eclipse explained as he walked off towards the back door through the kitchen.

“Boy it sure is hot.” Brooke commented as she sat down on the hot plastic deck chair. Trying to sit as comfortable as possible without her bare legs touching.

“I like it, I have always liked the warm weather. After all I grew up in Sidney Australia.” She said in her natural voice.

“Yes that is true, but remember I grew up right here and it has never been this warm in November, maybe in September but no wear near this warm I think I am starting to get a tan.” Brooke explained as she looked over her arms.

“Alright ladies, enough chit chat we have to get down to scout business. The enemy now knows each of your weak points, they wouldn’t have gone through all of that trouble unless there was a reason for it.” Nova explained in her calm tone, which she took when talking to the girls.

“They will obviously attack sooner or later, they want Jessica. She is the only one who can seal Emperor Valico back in his prison for another thousand years.” Eclipse said as he sat at the deck stairs.

“Alright hold on a moment, I still don’t know how or when I am going to seal Emperor Valico maybe we can go over that?” Jessica suggested as she looked to each of her friends in turn.

“Well we aren’t too sure ourselves Princess Cassandra, the means in which you are to do this is obvious though.” Nova said quietly.

“The Golden Illusion Jewel right?” Asked Madison who still hadn’t been told everything since her arrival as a scout.

“Yes that is right the Jewel is very powerful and that is what your mother used to seal him in, and Queen Serenity used the Silver Millenniums Silver Crystal to seal him yet again, now you must do it in this time frame.” Nova went on.

“So we just have to find where they are hiding out and attack, I am sure that there will be many demons and creatures much like Kasumi, Kurai-ki and Shi-ryuu. Minions are usually there when a high ranking being is found.” Eclipse said as he looked to Nova.

“Yes so you should be training my Princesses, much training is to be done. So today after dinner I want all of you to come to the Public Gardens, there will be no one there because it is closed for the season so we can train there.” Nova stated as she looked at each of the girls in turn resting her eyes on Jessica.

“I want you to bring Kevin as well, he too needs to train, and he is a part of the team as well. Having him there will be good, you all have to improve on your hand to hand combat, as well as your type of fighting, it is time to find your fighting weaknesses and strengths so that we can arrange a strategy to battle the Emperor Valico.

“Alright then, are we to bring anything?” Asked Alissa speaking for the first time since she arrived.

“If you have any strong wooden pools then bring them you can do some sparring! It would do you good to practice. And please don’t forget you medallions.” Eclipse said as he shook his head.

“We aren’t that silly Eclipse!” Madison said as she ruffled the Doberman pincher’s short black fur on the top of his head.

“So tonight, you should all rest, and tell your parents that you are going out to a movie together.” Eclipse said the biting his tongue as he looked to Alissa. Her “parents” were still in a coma like state lying upstairs on their bed hooked up to a bunch of different contraptions.

“Alright then, my mom shouldn’t mind she is glad that I found some friends so soon.” Jennifer said as she stood up.

“Yeah I don’t think I will have a problem.” Brooke said as she too stood up.

“No problem here, see you all at five thirty?” Madison questioned as she began to walk towards the back door.

“Yup five thirty it is.” Eclipse said as he too stood up walking over to Nova waiting until she got up from where she lay.

Jessica walked her friends out to the front door said her good byes then went back inside. “Alright time to go wake Kevin!” Jessica called over her shoulder as she began to run up her stairs two at a time.

“You mean that he still isn’t out of bed! It is past noon!” Eclipse said in a shocked tone as he followed Jessica.

“You forget that he has been worrying about exams! The collage is having finals right now so it is going to be like this for a bit. I hate to ask him to come tonight to train, but he is part of the team and needs to train like you said.” Jessica stopped at Kevin’s bedroom door and slowly opened it.

Lying on his bed all tangled up in his blankets. Jessica smiled sweetly; he looked so cute with his blonde hair all untidy going this way and that way on his pillow. Jessica opened the door quietly. Walking over to his bedside on her tiptoes she was careful not to walk on the floor parts, which were creaky.

Eclipse sat out front the door. Coming to the head of the bed and brushing some of Kevin’s hair out of his face, she ran her fingers down the side of his smooth cheek. Gently kissing him on his lips, not getting a reaction she got a childish look on her face as she creped down to the foot of Kevin’s bed where one of his feet were hanging off the bed away from the cover of the big blankets.

Just as she was going to reach for his feet she soon found herself laying on the warm mattress with hair in her face, Kevin’s hair. She looked up to see his handsome blue eyes gazing down at her with so much love.

They were silent for a moment until Jessica was about to open her mouth and was stopped by Kevin’s soft finger set across her lips, he replaced the finger with his lips and they kissed for a moment.

Once the kiss had ended Jessica began to explain. “I saw you there so cute you were and your foot was just there so I wanted to tickle it, and you woke up Kevy-poo!” Jessica used the little pet name for her love.

“I was awake the entire time, thank-you for the kiss, and you should know that you can’t tickle my feet they are off limits!” Kevin said jokingly. “But what about you?! Are yours off limits?” he asked as he quickly got to Jessica’s feet and began to tickle them.

“Not fair, not fair at all! I can never fight back! You are too strong, just wait I am starting to get greater muscles and soon I will have the strength to pin you and tickle you all day long!” Jessica said between bursts of laughter.

Trying to sit up so that she was face to face with Kevin who continued to tickle her she managed to squirm free from his grasp on her feet. But he quickly went for her sides and began to tickle her madly. The only thing Jessica could do was laugh, laugh and laugh some more as she tried to squirm.

Once the tickling match was over, one, which Jessica without a doubt had lost to Kevin, the couple embraced in a hug, Kevin ran his fingers through Jessica’s long red hair. Taking in the sweet smell of her freshly washed hair. “Jessica you are so beautiful, you know that right?” he asked as he sadly ended the embrace and looked into Jessica’s eyes brushing her bangs from her eyes.

Not sure what to say she looked down the back up at Kevin. “Thank . . . thank-you Kevin.” Not really sure what to say Jessica hugged tightly into Kevin’s chest. “Thank-you for everything you have given me.” She said with a smile.

“Alright Shi-ryuu, you and Kurai-ki have finally discovered each of the scouts weaknesses, what are you planning to do now?” Questioned Emperor Valico from his chair. The beast at his side.

“Well as you have noticed by the weather change that there are many things falling into place, the prophecy is falling into place a lot quicker then expected, so today many things will happen.” Shi-ryuu explained.

“You were supposed to stop the prophecy from happening! You are supposed to make sure that I do not get sealed yet again in my prison for another thousand years! It can not happen again!” Emperor Valico said as his voice began to rise.

“Don’t worry old man! You will have what you want soon enough, just wait, we are going to play a little game with the scouts tonight. They will most likely be together, and if not I can get them together close enough. There is no need to worry about that.” Shi-ryuu went on.

“Good because if you fail me you know what will happen to you, both of you.” Emperor Valico looked back and forth between the two demons. Kurai-ki hadn’t said a word he just looked on standing neck to his large older brother.

“Yeah, yeah I know, but don’t worry I am the last one whom you will have to send to the Neatherealm. But Kurai-ki I can not speak for.” Shi-ryuu poked a thumb at his little brother’s sternum.

“I will not fail you either Emperor Valico I am just as helpful as Shi-ryuu.” The smaller green demon sated proudly.

“That you are Kurai-ki and when this is all over and I am free we can bring back Kasumi!” Emperor Valico said happily. “She was a very powerful ally and is much needed for my plan in the end, you and her both.” He paused and looked to Shi-ryuu. “And you too old friend, you will stand as my right hand demon, together we can rule the world.” Emperor Valico said as he slammed his fist onto his chair’s arm.

“Good.” Was all the tall greyish purple colored demon could say. He turned his long black hair swaying behind him, his long tail swishing back and forth as he left the room.

“You are dismissed Kurai-ki.” Emperor Valico snarled as he watched Shi-ryuu walk off to the shadows. “So tell me beast what do you think will happen to him? Will his stupidly get to him?” Questioned the Emperor.

“I do not know, but I do know that I wish to go and look at the Star Pendulum, which will soon hold the Stellar Senshi’s Heart Stones.” The beast explained as he stood up. “So please excuse me.” The beast bowed then walked off to the pool of dark liquid substance.

“Shi-ryuu might not last to be my right hand demon if he continues to disrespect me like he has been. I wonder how he would act if I were to make his kid brother Kurai-ki my right hand demon. He would get rather mad over that but it would serve him right, he is to rude, that is alright to an extent, but when he starts to talk to me ass one of the lesser demons and not an Emperor then that is when I draw the line.” Emperor Valico said to himself as he looked around for something to smash in his anger.

The five girls and one man all came into the center of the Public Gardens from different directions, it was almost five thirty, each had rested and eaten well to get ready to the training which was bound to be intense with Eclipse and Nova running the show.

The two guardian dogs stood in the center, Jessica, Kevin, Alissa, Jennifer, Brooke and Madison all stopped five feet away from the canine’s and a star formation.

“Alright let the games begin! I hope you took our advice because this is going to be long, tiring and will changeling you to your point of exhaustion, especially with all of this heat.” Eclipse came right out and stated.

“Jessica you and Kevin are to practice hand to hand combat with your swords, do not transform, and just call upon the power of your swords and deal with that.

“For the rest of you, all out combat, anything goes, you just can transform, you are allowed to use what you have around you and can use any other powers which you may have when not in senshi form.” Eclipse explained. “We have to find out your fighting style. Weather you are offensive, defensive, neutral, healing.” Eclipse explained to the others.

Jessica and Kevin were both sparring, Jessica’s fencing training had really paid off as they did various attack at each other, neither being able to get a swipe in on the other. At first they were both worried about hurting the other but the match soon got heated and they were swiping at each other as if they were the enemy.

Jennifer was sparring with Alissa while Brooke and Madison were up against each other. Circling. Alissa made the first move, going at Jennifer with a series of kicks and punches. Which were each in turn blocked the attacks or flipped away from her reach. Nova watched the girls while Eclipse watched Jessica and Kevin.

Brooke and Madison were also in their heated match. Brooke was both blocking and swinging punches and kicks. Madison seemed to go right at it, she wanted to get as many hits in possible, dodging and not blocking.

The heated matches went on for sometime, straight for a half hour until Eclipse called a break; all six of them were in a sweat tired and almost huffing and gasping for air.

“You are doing good, and it didn’t take too long for me and Eclipse to place you with your different skills for battle. You are all very strong, and have been placed into the various fighting styles.

“Alissa your fighting style is a cross between healing and offensive which goes well with your healing based powers, Jennifer you are obviously defensive which also goes good with your powers. While Brooke you are a neutral fighter, and Madison you are without a doubt a offensive fighter.” Nova turned to Jessica and Kevin.

“Both of you are hard to place in one area, because if you look at each of your powers Kevin you have healing and protection based powers all being very powerful, while Jessica you too are in this situations. With the healing power of your Golden Illusion Jewel, along with the violent attacks.” Nova paused.

“Kevin you are each of the different types, offensive, defensive, neutral and healing, and Jessica you are offensive and healing, with some defensive. So each of you will be fighting a lot.” Turning to the rest of the group.

“Now for an explanation of what is expected by each of your fighting styles and how you can use them to win your battles without too many problems.” Eclipse went on. So sit-down, have a drink from the cooler as well as something to eat, there are plenty of healthy snacks to keep you going.

“Time to attack Kurai-ki we get to spoil their little picnic!” Shi-ryuu said as he looked from behind the tree. Jessica and Kevin had gone off for a little while on their own once Eclipse and Nova had finished their explanations. They were standing on one of the many bridges in the garden.

The couple kissed, once their kiss was over, Kevin pushed Jessica to the ground, covering her with his body as a flaming swarm of bats flew right by them just missing the couple.

“Quickly Jessica transform!” Kevin said as he batted at the bats, which came back for a second round.

Standing up as the bats made a wide turn the pair held their transformation items above their heads. Jessica leading.

“SOLARIS STAR . . . . ."

"DAYSTAR COSMIC . . . . . "

Together they called out the ending to the transformation phrase. “POWER!”

Jessica then closed her eyes. The Solaris Medallion disappeared into many little orange and gold sparkles; this caused her body to shimmer the colors of the sparkles as they fell onto her body.

Then her silver tiara appeared with the red jewel in the center. The jewel then emitted a blinding flash of orange light that surrounded Jessica giving her the feeling of the bright morning sun on her body.

Then a swirl of orange and gold sparkles warped around her body moving upward as it spun around her body. The body suit of her uniform then appeared. And the bows came out of the heart in the center of her chest. Sparkling golden rings then went around her feet forming boots. Then more sparkling rings went around her arms forming her gloves. Soon afterward the golden sparkles went around her waist forming her skirt.

At that point there was a large burst of golden sparkles that flew up into the air, when the sparkles fell to the ground Sailor Sun was then revealed fully transformed. She did her transformation pose. She stood there with one hand across her forehead and the other across her stomach with her legs together. Her long red hair then blew to the side.

The mist wrapped around counter clockwise around his body covering him from the eye. When the mist faded away Kevin was only a shadow. Then was an explosion above his head and small glittering yellow and maroon sparkles fell over his shoulders and his long cape appeared around his shoulders.

Then with a bright flash of golden light his armor appeared. Then he held his right arm to the sky and opened his eyes. Once his eyes were open a large powerful silver sword appeared in his hand, he then slid the saber into its proper spot on his belt.

The others came running when they heard the familiar sound of the two demons as the laughed while the bats flew through the air. Holding their transformation medallions above their heads and stopping to call out the phrases once they reached the foot of the bridge.

"POLLUX STAR . . . . ."

"CAPELLA STAR . . . . ."

"SHAULA STAR . . . . ."

"SPICA STAR . . . . ."

Then all together they called out, "POWER!”

Alissa shouted out the phrase as she held her transformation item above her head. Alissa then closed her eyes then her transformation wand disappeared. Her hair was then lifted off of her shoulders. I strong gust picked up and swirled around her. Then her silver tiara appeared with the white jewel in the center. The jewel them emitted a blinding flash of gray light that surrounded Alissa giving her the feel of a warm spring breeze blowing through her hair and across her face.

Then the swirling air divided into rings and two rings went around her body moving upward as it spun around her body. The body suit of her uniform then appeared. And the bow came out of the heart in the center of her chest. Gray rings of air went around her feet forming boots. Then more gray rings went around her arms forming her gloves. Soon afterward the gray air went around her waist forming her skirt.

At that point the wind picked up greatly, her hair was blowing wildly. From above a tornado came down and circled around Alissa blocking her from view. When the tornado died down and her hair slowly dropped back resting on her shoulders. Sailor Pollux was reveled fully transformed. She did her transformation pose. Her pose was her standing with both of her hands on her cheeks, looking very innocent and harmless. Her head was tilted a little bit to the side. Her legs were apart, one was a little ahead then the other.

Jennifer shouted out these words as she held her transformation medallion above her head. She then closed her eyes then her transformation medallion disappeared. Her hair was then lifted off of her back.

Then her silver tiara appeared with the green jewel in the center. The jewel them emitted a blinding flash of green light that surrounded the girl giving her the feel of leaves brushing across her face and around her body.

Then from the ground vines formed at the bottom of her feet. The vines then slowly moved up her body. Her legs were then covered from view. The vines continued to move up her body, her waist was then hidden, the vines continued to move up and they covered her upper body then they moved down her arms.

Then there was a large burst of green light and the vines started to move away from her body slowly moving down. The vines revealed her gloves then her body suit was formed. Next came her skirt and the vines completely disappeared and her boots were reviled. The heart in the center of her chest was reveled.

From the heart came more vines they formed her bow. Then the bow in her back appeared with the vines.

At that point more vines appeared and they grew upward. The vines keep growing up until they were above her head. They then began to wrap around her body causing a wall of vines around her. The vines tied into a point above Jennifer's head. When the vines died down and the girl's hair slowly drops back resting on her shoulders. And Sailor Capella was reveled fully transformed. She did her transformation pose. Her pose was her standing with her right arm stretched out in front of her. Her left arm is resting on her hip. Her head was tilted slightly forward. Her legs were together.

Brooke shouted out the words as she held her transformation medallion above her head. Brooke then closed her eyes then her transformation medallion disappeared. Then her silver tiara appeared with the sea green jewel in the center. The jewel them emitted a blinding flash of sea green light that surrounded Brooke giving her the feel of her body being surround by the cool summer water.

Then from behind her a wave formed and crashed down on top of her, she didn't stir. Once the water resided, Brooke stood in it. A small bit of water at her feet moved up her knees forming boots, which were transparent. The water then slowly moved up her body. Her waist was then hidden beneath water, the form of her skirt could be seen the water continued to move up and it covered her upper body then it moved down her arms. Then rain began to fall from an unseen source, covering her body.

As the water touched her arms it reveled her gloves then her body suit. Next came her skirt and the rain slowly tapered off, but not before her boots were reviled. The heart in the center of her chest was reveled. From the heart came more water it formed her bow. Then the bow in her back appeared in the same fashion.

And Sailor Shaula was reveled fully transformed. She did her transformation pose. Her pose was her kneeling down on one knee, her elbows rest on that knee, her head rested in her hands and she had a big smile which spread across her face.

Madison shouted out the phrase as she held her transformation medallion above her head. Madison then closed her eyes then her transformation medallion disappeared. Her hair was then lifted off of her shoulders. I strong heat surrounded and circled around her.

Then her silver tiara appeared with the scarlet jewel in the center. The jewel them emitted a blinding flash of lava colored light that surrounded Madison giving her the feel of sitting in front of a warm fire on a cold winter day.

Then from the ground lava erupted and shot up into the air high above her head. The lava then began to circle around her body moving upward as it spun around her body. The body suit of her uniform then appeared. The heart then formed and from the heart came lava that went out and formed into the shape of a bow.

Lava came up around her feet forming boots much like the bow that were black with orange and red cracks. They looked like drying lava. Then lava dropped from above and landed on her arms forming her gloves. Soon afterward more lava appeared around her waist forming her skirt.

At that point the lava flew up from the ground, causing lave to be thrown up into the air. The wall of lava from behind her collapses and when the lava then suddenly dies down, everything is quite and the lava that forms her uniform dries and shows it in the material form and the right colors. And Sailor Spica is reveled fully transformed. She did her transformation pose. Her pose was her standing with one leg in front of the other; her left hand on her hip. Her right hand is at the back of her neck. Her head is looking straight ahead and she has an angry look in her eyes as the flare like hot lava.

“Remember what we have told you!” Eclipse and Nova called out. The Stellar Senshi nodded and turned to their foes all getting into their fighting stances, Daystar Knight managed to get ride of the swarm of bats.

Shi-ryuu made a dragon of fire, which roared loudly and shook the trees around them causing some of the leaves to fall from their branches.  The dragon spit fire into the air then began to fly towards the Stellar Senshi with a steady stream of fire coming from its mouth.

“CAPELLA PROTECTION WALL!”

Sailor Capella screamed out the attack phrase as she raised her hands and spun them around her body. Vines came up from the ground from under her feet. They went straight towards the directed target being the dragon, cutting the enemy with the sharp thorns that came from the sides. The vines came back to Sailor Capella and surrounded her and the rest of the Senshi along with the two guardian dogs, there they could stand protected from attacks coming from the outside for a limited time.

To save the vines from catches on fire Sailor Shaula stepped forward in their protection of vines and began her attack.

"SHAULA FLOOD OF TEARS . . . . . DOWNPOUR"

Tears welled up in Sailor Shaula's eyes as she bent down and kneeled on her knees, she looked up at Kurai-ki and Shi-ryuu. As the tears began to pour down her face at a great speed, soon she had a puddle of tears that was growing in size and it was soon up to her waist, rising higher and higher. The tears were now at her neck and covered over her head. She then tightly shut her eyes and the pile of water, which had formed a column not only around her but also around the protection of Sailor Capella’s vines.

“Lets fight fire with fire then Sailor Spica!” Sailor Sun said as she turned to Sailor Spica, the two scouts gave a high five to each other before turning and facing the wall, which Sailor Capella and Sailor Shaula were trying to keep together.

"SUN FIRE BEAM . . . . . BURN!"

Sailor Sun stood with her legs together, and then she put her hands together as if she were going to pray. She closed her eyes and slowly lifted her hands towards the sky. During the whole time Sailor Sun's hair was blowing fiercely around her.  There was a bright flash of golden and orange light, which caused her body to shimmer, then a large golden fireball spun around Sailor Sun then turned and headed towards Shi-ryuu and Kurai-ki. The vines parted, as did Sailor Shaula’s water column to let the fire through to the dragon. When it reached the dragon the fireball began to spin around him.

"SPICA LAVA RIVER . . . CHAR!"

She jumped up into the air and did a flip, from the ground appeared a opening a few seconds a gush of lave came up, Sailor Spica stood on the lava that bobbed above the ground. The heat around her was emissive but didn’t seem to bother her. As she did a back flip back the lava plunged down onto the ground and roared towards Shi-ryuu and Kurai-ki at a surprisingly fast speed. The vines and the water closed once the attack was out. Seeming to leap up into the air the river of lava plunged down upon the un-expecting dragon.

“Alright my turn! Lets blow out this fire!” Sailor Pollux said as she stepped forth.

"POLLUX STORM TORNADO . . . . . SPIN!"

Sailor Pollux stood with her legs apart. Her hands were clasped across her chest. Her head was bowed and her eyes were closed. Then her eyes snapped open as her neck straightened. She put her hands above her head and a strong wind picked up. Sailor Pollux's hair and uniform blew wildly in the wind. She turned her wrist and a gray tornado came down from above. It surrounded her then she put her hands directly in front of her chest and the tornado spun out towards the dragon. Wrapping around it and causing the fire to dim. Once the attack was done the remains of the dragon fell to the ground in a pile of ashes.

Sailor Sun replied softly as she slowly lifted her head straight up looking towards the sun, which shone, brightly above.

"SUN PLASMA . . . . . AWAKEN!"

As she continued to look upward towards the sun, her legs were apart. She begins to lift her arms from her sides and cross them across her chest, closing her eyes; she throws her arms to her side. A glowing of golden energy can be seen within her stomach, the energy moves over her body, heading upward towards her head and downward to her toes.

Her eyes abruptly open as the golden energy passes by; inside her eyes is the image of the burning sun. She flicks her head to the side then back

upright, her hair instantly takes on the form of fire. The golden energy now surrounds her like a great flame. A small smile spreads across her lips; she puts her hands together at the palms and raises them above her head.

Within the palm of her hand a small replica of the sun formed, growing in

size. Once it fit perfectly in her hand she moved her arms down quickly so they were bent at the elbows, now pointing on a slant towards Kasumi.

She abruptly moves her hands forward releasing the plasma ball. The ball goes straight towards Shi-ryuu, growing in size the closer it got. It moved with such speed that Shi-ryuu couldn't move out to the way. Becoming engulfed in the plasma ball, he screamed in pain.
